How did the holiday lighting business start?

Frosty's Holiday Lighting LLC was actually the first Frosty's business I started — before HVAC. In 2017, I saw an opportunity to help homeowners transform their homes for the holiday season without the hassle and danger of DIY installation. With my construction background and comfort working at heights, holiday lighting was a natural fit.

What started as a seasonal side hustle quickly grew into a full-service operation. We handle everything from custom design consultations to professional installation, maintenance throughout the season, and clean takedown after the holidays. The seasonal nature of this business is what led me to launch Frosty's HVAC the following year — I needed year-round revenue, and HVAC was where my skills and passion aligned.

Holiday lighting is inherently seasonal. Our installation season runs from October through early December, with maintenance calls throughout the holiday season and takedown in January. This seasonal rhythm taught me valuable business lessons about cash flow management, seasonal staffing, and the importance of diversifying revenue streams.

Running a seasonal business alongside a year-round HVAC operation creates a complementary cycle. When HVAC demand peaks in summer, holiday lighting is in planning mode. When fall arrives and AC calls slow down, holiday lighting installations ramp up. This balance has been key to building sustainable businesses.
